Frequently Asked Questions

Where are you located?

My therapy practice is located in all of Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Florida virtually. This allows for women to be able to join from anywhere in MA, CT, or anywhere in FL, from the comfort of their home or during a convenient time, with or without baby in their arms.

Can you work with clients anywhere in the country?

No, I can only work with clients in the states that I am licensed. Right now I am licensed in the states of MA, CT and FL.

Why virtual?

Telehealth is amazing and has really eliminated a lot of barriers for people being unable to prioritize their mental wellbeing. With no commute needed, there are more scheduling options. From the comfort of your own home, or in your car during your lunch break, all you need is a stable Wi-Fi connection, a phone or laptop with a camera, and headphones if desired.

How long are sessions?
Therapy sessions are anywhere from 40-55 minutes in length. Each session length is dependent on what YOU need from that time that day.

How often will we meet?

I meet with the majority of my clients on a weekly basis. I ask that all new clients commit to meeting weekly, for at-least the first 4 weeks. This will allow us to start off on a strong foot, so you can start seeing progress right away. I may recommend that we increase or decrease the frequency of sessions to best meet your needs.

What can I expect from therapy?
My approach to therapy is a collaborative one. I want to learn about where you are struggling in your life and where you long for change. I want to hear what you’ve tried, what isn’t working, and what has worked. We will work together to come up with a plan that supports the goals you set to achieve during our time together. I may encourage you to complete a task or assignment in between our sessions because although engaging in therapy is a powerful step, continuing the work in between sessions is an integral part of the work.

How long will I need to be in therapy?

My approach is solutions focused. This means you won’t have to be in therapy forever. Many of my clients find that they’ve met their goals in 3-6 months and no longer need therapy. I also have clients who choose to remain in therapy for much longer; they have seen improvements and still really enjoy having ongoing support and a place to process their thoughts and feelings each week.

Is what we discuss private?
With the exceptions of mandated reporting of disclosure of (or suspected) abuse or neglect, and basic diagnosis and dates of treatment to insurance, I keep the strictest of confidence. As a licensed mental health professional, I am ethically and legally bound to protect your privacy and I take that very seriously. Without a signed release of information from you giving explicit permission to speak with someone, I will not confirm or deny we have a counseling relationship.

Do I need medication? Do you prescribe medication?
Therapists do not prescribe medication. However, if in our work together we decide that it could be beneficial to add medication to your treatment, I can collaborate with your trusted prescriber. I am also able to support you in identifying a trusted prescriber should you not have one already. Many people benefit from a combination of medication and talk-therapy and some people find the need for medication is short-term.

What if I’m not sure we’re a good fit?
Before scheduling a therapy session, I do a free 15 minute intro call with all potential new clients. This gives us the chance to get to know each other. Here’s what you can expect:

  • I’ll ask you about why you’re seeking therapy

  • I’ll ask you how you’re hoping therapy may be helpful

  • I’ll tell you a bit about myself and my approach as a therapist

  • You can ask me any questions that I didn’t cover

  • We’ll talk about rates, insurance, availability, etc.

So we’re a good fit, what’s next?

If we both decide we're a good fit after our intro call, we'll schedule our first therapy appointment. I'll send you a couple of quick forms to complete before our first session. I'll also send you a link for our video calls that you can use every week.
